7 Jul 99NEW CAREER AND LIFESTYLES WITH POOLE ADULT EDUCATION
People in Poole are being offered the opportunity to take the first step towards a new hobby, acquire new skills for work or learn for the pure pleasure of it.
Copies of the new 1999/2000 Adult Education Brochure, delivered to every household in Poole, are full of information on professional and vocational courses as well as leisure and general interest. With the new easy use listings by course and venue, the brochure contains a huge range of courses for students of all ages and levels.
Elaine Findlay, Head of Adult Education, Borough of Poole said: "Adult Education in Poole aims to give students a huge variety of the best courses available. With an up-front, one price payment and concessions for those on limited incomes, once a course starts it will continue to the end rather than closing if numbers dwindle. All the tutors who work with Poole Adult Education are professionals in their field and we are proud to be associated with those whose skills support our lifelong learning culture."
Dennis Philcox, a very young 70 year old from Creekmoor said: "I thought I would find going to a computer course a bit difficult but the excellence of the teaching and the group atmosphere made me feel part of the modern world. Instead of being left behind, I’m up there in the forefront of information technology and loving every minute of it."
Courses on offer this Autumn at venues throughout Poole begin from 13 September 1999. They include everything from basic skills in Maths and English to A’ Level Spanish, Aromatherapy, Computer Programming and Lip Reading. A huge range of vocational courses are also available for anyone looking to gain new skills for work. For more information on the courses on offer at Poole Adult Education venues ring tel, (01202) 262300 or 262302.
Borough of Poole Adult Education also provides a Linking Scheme which enables people with learning disabilities join in adult education classes with support from a volunteer co-student who is interested in the same subject. Co-students provide transport and support as needed. Volunteer co-students have their course fees and travel expenses paid for by the Linking Scheme. If you would like to become a volunteer co-student, please contact Viv Rynne, Linking Scheme co-ordinator on 01202 262308.
