RNLI COMMEMORATIVE BOWL UPDATE

There is still time to take part in Poole’s greatest birthday celebration of the year.

There has been a super response from Poole residents wanting to help celebrate the RNLI’s 175th anniversary.

Whilst you are reading this, Poole residents are presenting Poole Pottery commemorative bowls to RNLI stations throughout the UK and Ireland, on behalf of the Mayor of Poole.

Mayor of Poole, Cllr Bill Wretham said: "The response from Poole residents has been overwhelming. We have heard some very fascinating stories from residents, describing rescues and relatives who have served with the RNLI."

Many locations have proved to be very popular, especially Scarborough and those stations situated in Devon and Cornwall. Poole residents have also travelled greater distances and stations such as Ballyglass on the west coast of Ireland and Montrose on the East coast of Scotland have both received their commemorative bowl.

However, there are still stations left to present to.

Borough of Poole’s Public Relations Co-ordinator, Keeley Bull asks: "Are you travelling to North Wales or Northern England this summer, then why not join in the anniversary celebrations and present a commemorative bowl to one of the 223 lifeboat stations throughout the UK & Ireland."

Each resident who presents a bowl will be invited to a reception at the end of September.
