On February 20 the Mayor of Poole, Cllr Mrs Judy Butt will welcome talented artists from the ’15 Days in Clay’ project to join her in her Parlour to celebrate their superb pieces of work.

The ‘15 Days in Clay’ ceramic art project, gives groups of adults with learning difficulties in Poole the opportunity to work with local ceramic artist Janna Edwards.

The project aims to inspire and nurture the creative development of individuals in a professional ceramic environment. It was started in November 2003 with support from a grant from ‘Awards For All’.

Since its launch, the project has flourished with 21 people attending three classes a week at Holton Lee, Poole link will open in new window.

The Mayor of Poole, Cllr Mrs Judy Butt, said: “The group have already exhibited their work across the South of England and I was delighted to be able to accommodate their amazing selection of art in my Mayoral  display cabinet just outside my parlour in the Civic Centre.  My idea was to allow all members of the public coming into the building and the staff who work here to see the extremely high standard of work and enjoy the zany shapes and colours of the individual pieces.

“I am really looking forward to congratulating our artists, most of whom I know personally and celebrate their achievements. I shall be buying a piece for my Parlour, but the hardest job is choosing from such an amazing range of work!”

Cllr Elaine Atkinson, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Community Support, said: “The work on display represents much hard work and inspiration. Borough of Poole’s Adult Social Services recognise the importance of such projects and welcomes the opportunity to show case the impressive work.”

The artwork will be on display in the Civic Centre reception until the end of February.
