The final event in the Liverpool Victoria Summer Festival of fun kicks off next weekend when Poole Quay will welcome an invasion of traders from Normandy for the Poole's famous French Street Market. The annual event, now in its fifth year, has proved enormously popular with residents and visitors alike, attracting an estimated 40,000 people last year.
The tempting aromas of Gallic bread, cheese, garlic and honey will fill the air when the market, supported by the Daily Echo, takes to the streets on 11 and 12 September, opening from 10.00 am - 6.00 pm each day.
Traders will also be offering shoppers a choice which will leave waistlines intact with leather goods, linen, jewellery, traditional kitchenware, perfume and cosmetics.
Accordion players and the popular Gugge 2000, who delighted crowds during this year's Liverpool Victoria Summer Festival Evenings, will add to the atmosphere with their unique continental street carnival style.
French Street Market Co-ordinator Anne Simpson said: "Like the Summer Festival Thursday Evenings, the French Street Market is as popular with local residents as visitors. One of the reasons the event has been such a fantastic success in past years is that it gives everyone the chance to continue enjoying the summer mood into September".
