26 May 05Go 'Mad' for Make a Difference Day 2005
Do you want a chance to go MAD in Poole?! The Make a Difference Day event on May 31 2005 is an opportunity for you to make a positive impact in your community.
On the day, as part of the Borough of Poole's commitment to Pride in Poole and the enhancement of the local environment, the Borough will be teaming up with community volunteers to enhance Alderney Recreation Ground.
A whole host of activities are planned for the day including litter picking, fly-tip clearance, healthy walks, environmental education, heathland information from the Urban Heath LIFE Project, plus information from the Borough of Poole on open spaces, community groups and local events.
Cllr Don Collier, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for the Environment, Borough of Poole, said: "This event is an opportunity for people to come together and actively contribute to improving open spaces for the whole community, whilst finding out about the heathland habitat on their doorstep."
So if you want to get involved, why not come and join your neighbours for a fun and active day making your open space a cleaner, greener, safer place for everyone to enjoy. The event is set to take place on Tuesday 31 May, meeting by the pavilion on Alderney Recreation Ground at 1pm.
The event also coincides with half-term and Junior Heathwatch Week and the Borough is particularly keen to encourage the younger members of the community to join in. Any younger volunteers will receive free badges, bugs or key rings for their hard work.
