21 Oct 99FUTURE TRAVEL PLANS FOR POOLE
Plans for the future of transport in Poole are being formed with the help of experts and local transport users.A panel of Poole Councillors will hear evidence from local residents, transport users, operators, businesses and transport experts at two special meetings on Friday 22 October and Friday 29 October.
Similar to Westminster Select Committees, representatives from the Police, RAC, local bus companies, cyclists and walkers will address the Select Committee in order to ensure as many views as possible are heard to help shape the future of transportation in Poole.
Cllr Bob Williams, Chairman of Environment Policy Board, said: "Transportation is a major issue nationally and with Poole having one of the highest levels of car ownership in the country it is something we cannot afford to ignore. The only way to deal with this is to look at all the options and consult as widely as possible to make sure we find long term solutions for the future travel needs of the town".
Members of the public are welcome to attend and listen to Select Committee presentations taking place in the Committee Suite, Civic Centre, Poole from 9.30 am - 3.50 pm.
