Young People To See The World Cup On The Big Screen

Aged 13-19? If so come and watch the World Cup with us.

Young people are being helped with World Cup fever by the Poole Mobile Youth Project who have organised for the football matches to be screened on a large screen TV at a number of venues across the borough.

The Poole Mobile Youth Project is a partnership initiative between Poole Safe Together, Dorset Police link will open in new window and the Council’s Youth Service where a mobile youth team regularly visit areas with no youth centre provision to engage young people in various positive activities.

Aimed at those aged between 13 and 19 providing these screens gives young people the opportunity to congregate together to enjoy the tournament and reduces the temptation for them to venture into licensed premises.

Some of the venues playing host to the youngsters include Hamworthy Park, Poole Park, Bearwood Lionheart Field, Shore Road and Creekmoor Millfield Green. The screenings will be supervised by the Council’s youth workers.

Details of all of the venues are available below or via community noticeboards, Poole Youth Centres and libraries. The Poole Youth Service can also be contacted on 01202 262281 or on email at youth.services@poole.gov.uk.

Councillor Tony Woodcock, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Children’s Services said: "The World Cup is a fantastic tournament that gets the whole nation involved. Providing supervised venues such as this means that the young people can enjoy the football in a safe and friendly environment".
