5 Nov 03Its Full Sail Ahead for Alan Taylor
Poole’s regeneration project ‘Full Sail Ahead’ has a new project manager Alan Taylor.

From 1 December, Alan will be joining Poole from his post as Renaissance Manager with Newcastle’s Regional Development Agency, ‘OneNorthEast’, where since 1998 he has worked leading regeneration projects.
Alan is currently involved in a five-year programme of direct development that has seen the completion of the 100-hectare Newburn Riverside business and office site. This project was recently awarded the British Construction Industry Best Practice Award 2003. His work on delivering a strategy, which aims to support the development of sustainable communities with high quality built and natural environments, will be invaluable to Poole as it starts its own multi-million pound regeneration.
Alan, said: "'I am really pleased to be taking part in the delivery of the Full Sail Ahead project in Poole. The challenge of combining best practice and excellence in urban design together with our changing lifestyles is an exciting opportunity for us all. At a time when there is increasing public awareness and interest in the built environment, developing quality public open spaces which work together and help to improve the community's experience of a place are essential. The initial costs are only a small part of the lifetime of potential benefits Poole's regeneration can bring - but the goodwill and long term support from all those involved in the re-development will be key to delivering major changes for local people."
Prior to this Alan was a Project Manager for 10 years on the Cardiff Bay Development Project. His previous working life was spent in highways, transportation, bridge design and works as well as construction roles UK wide. He is a member of the Association of Project Management and the Institution of Structural Engineers
Councillor Ron Parker, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Local Economy, said: "I am delighted to welcome Alan to Poole and to one of the most exciting regeneration projects in the country. Things are really starting to happen in Poole with several sites already on their way to new use. I look forward to working with Alan and the team at the Borough of Poole on this project, ensuring that it delivers a prosperous future for the people of Poole."
