Young people in Poole will have the opportunity to get together and talk about the issues that are important to them at Poole’s first young people’s conference. To be held in the Civic Centre, Poole, on Wednesday 29 October, the conference will begin at 2pm and run into the evening. Young people in Poole will have the opportunity to get together, have their views heard and put their burning questions to a special panel. They will also be able to contribute to the work of Poole Partnership, Connexions Councillor Tony Woodcock, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Learning and Youth Services, said: "This is an exciting new venture for Poole. Young people can get their voices heard and know that their opinion does matter to the Borough. Hearing the views of the next generation is refreshing and a true insight into how we can achieve what the youth of Poole want and need from their Local Authority." Lisa Ellaway, Poole’s member of the Youth Parliament, said; "This is a first for Poole. It should be a lot of fun and we hope that young people will come along and join in." The special ‘any questions?’ panel will include: Paul Hartigan of Wilts and Dorset; Scott Neil, Senior Reporter from the Daily Echo There will be information stands from DEED (Development Education in Dorset), The Quay Advice Centre, Connexions The conference is open to everyone and attendees should arrive from 2pm onwards at the main entrance to the Civic Centre. There will be food and music provided by DJ Garphi. Car parking is available in the surface car park at the Civic Centre or surrounding roads and secure parking is available for bikes.
