16 Nov 04Poole's Annual Business Conference
On Thursday 18 November, 100 delegates from the local business community will attend Poole’s Third Annual Business Conference organised by the Borough of Poole and Poole Partnership. The venue is the new RNLI Lifeboat College opened by HM The Queen in July. With over £100 million in investment so far this year, major international companies and organisations are recognising Poole as a progressive town to invest in. The audience will hear about these exciting developments and plans for further investment in the future. Council Leader Brian Leverett and Chief Executive John McBride will explain what the Council’s new corporate strategy Striving For Excellence means for business. Delegates will also hear about the work of three business-led Task Groups and the alliances Poole is building with Bournemouth and other partners to help make this area even more successful. Guest speakers include Adam Corney of Marine South West who will showcase the region’s first Marine Skills Centre in Poole. From one dynamic economy to another! Delegates will be treated to a live video-conference with Singapore to provide an insight into the trading opportunities in this successful Far Eastern economy. Councillor Ron Parker, Portfolio Holder for Local Economy, said: "This conference is the perfect opportunity to remind people just how far and fast the town is progressing. With views over the regeneration area, the new RNLI College will be the ideal venue to consider just how far we’ve come over the last two years and help chart a way forward for the future."
