Twin Sails Bridge Inquiry in September

A date has now been set for the Public Inquiry to take place for Poole’s second harbour crossing known as the Twin Sails Bridge. The hearing will start on September 27 2005 and will be held at the Civic Centre in Poole. At this time the best estimate suggests the inquiry will last up to four weeks.

The Borough of Poole is continuing to prepare its case and work with those who lodged objections to the Council’s submission of its Transport and Works Act Order application in November last year.

Bernie Topham, Policy Director, Borough of Poole, said: "We are delighted the move to deliver a second harbour crossing for the town is progressing with a date now set for the Public Inquiry. Between now and September we will continue to work with objectors to try and address their concerns.

"This is a crucial step forward for the Twin Sails Bridge. It is important that people get the opportunity to air any concerns they might have about the two-bridge operating system, in the proper way."

Copies of the Council’s Statement of Case are available to view by appointment at the Regeneration Office at St John’s House, Serpentine Road. Those interested should email fullsailahead@boroughofpoole.com or telephone 01202 262095.
