Golden Tree to Commemorate The Queen's Golden Jubilee

The borough's Poole in Bloom group have arranged for a special 'goldrush' tree to be planted by Mayor of Poole, Cllr Graham Mason at Upton Country Park to celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee on Thursday 6 June 2002. \n

Cllr Sandra Moore, Chairman of the Poole in Bloom Committee said: " This particular Dawn Redwood tree is the perfect way to mark this jubilee year as it is has golden leaves and is known as a 'goldrush'. It is also a new tree cultivar and will be the first of it's type to be planted in Poole. By planting this tree we are marking the golden jubilee with something permanent and by seeing it grow we can all be reminded of the golden jubilee for years to come. "

The planting will take place tomorrow Thursday 6 June in the walled garden at Upton Country Park and will be attended by the Poole in Bloom Committee and members of the public.
