Good Luck to Our Eleven Year Olds

Eleven year olds will be sitting their end of Key Stage 2 Tests next week. To help them achieve their best the Borough of Poole organised a week of literacy and numeracy courses.

These were held at Upton House in April and were led by the Borough's advisers and leading teachers. Some 120 pupils took part in story writing and number games. Parents were so pleased they even phoned in to say how much their child has enjoyed and benefited from the course.

John Mursell, the Borough's Literacy Adviser, reported: "The children set to work with tremendous enthusiasm and covered an amazing amount during the day."

Shirley Goodwin, Policy Director (Education), added: "We have worked with schools to improve support for pupils in literacy and numeracy. We hope that this will mean our pupils will be able to give their best in their tests next week - we wish them well and thank them and their teachers for all their hard work."
