9 May 02Knowmore Fun at Poole Library
The Central Library in Poole will be buzzing with activity on Saturday 11 & 12 May as The Knowmore Festival kicks off with ‘The Library on Fire’.
To launch this new service, FIRE FM will be broadcasting LIVE from the Library from 9.30am-12noon on Saturday morning with popular DJ Northern Paul.
Claire Chidley, Head of Cultural & Community Learning Services, Borough of Poole, said: "Poole’s Central Library is throwing open its doors for local people to enjoy this unique opportunity to sample a diverse set of activities, for free! Whether it’s Computing, Tango Dancing, Hair Braiding or Art, this is your chance to find out more. All you need to do is turn up but what is for sure is that it pays to knowmore!"
38 free events will be running throughout the week-end. So if you ever wondered what wine tasting was like, or want to knowmore about the Internet, then this is your chance to have a go for free.
Cllr Graham Wilson, Executive Spokesperson for Community Information & Support Services, said: "Poole Libraries are an excellent source of information and combined with the expertise of Adult Education who'll be running taster courses in a range of activities over the weekend, our
knowmore scheme is another quality service available for the benefit local people. The launch should be an exciting event and will give people a taste of what’s available in Poole. Our libraries have a lot to offer so I would encourage people to come and have a look - knowmore is simply about knowing more!"
