Four new SMART pool cars, fully branded to promote the Council's website boroughofpoole.com - the SMART way to get around Poole, will be seen on the town's roads from this week.

The cars will provide Councillors and Officers with a new and efficient travel solution by enabling them to book the cars to travel to meetings in the area.

Cllr Brian Clements, Leader of the Council, said: "Leasing these cars provides a year round message reaching more audiences and targeting local people for a similar price to a newspaper advert or a bus-side advertising campaign for a few weeks. It also gives us the added value of piloting a new efficient travel and environmentally friendly solution for Councillors and Officers, we fully expect to save money on 'mileage budgets' too."

Councillor Graham Wilson, Executive spokesperson for Community Information & Support Services, said: "Surveys show that local residents are increasingly using boroughofpoole.com for information about the Council and its services. I am sure these SMART cars will be a real hit and more people than ever will get to know about the website - especially during the summer events when every fifth Friday will be a SMART night on Poole Quay."

Councillors will be travelling in a SMART car to the Alderney, Bourne Valley and Newtown Area Meeting on Thursday 18 April at 7.00pm at Alderney Middle School, Evering Avenue.

The Borough of Poole's Household Interview Survey results over the past 3 years have shown that 8% more people use the website to obtain ALL their Council information.

Quay for my car events, sponsored by the Daily Echo, will be held every Friday during Poole's longest summer of events - T2F from May to September. Each Friday will feature a different car event on Poole Quay with up to 100 spaces available:
