Poole Businesses Benefit From Grant Funding

61 companies in Poole have been supported with grants to enable their staff to improve their skills with specialist training.

The Workforce Development Programme is initially a three year project which is approaching the end of its second year. To celebrate the success of the second year, an awards presentation evening will be launched by the Mayor of Poole, Cllr Ron Parker on 16th April at the Civic Centre. Successful companies will be awarded certificates presented by Cllr Brian Clements, Leader of the Council.

Cllr Brian Clements, said: "A whole range of businesses from engineering to the leisure industry have taken advantage of these generous training grants and have seen the results in their staff’s achievements. The presentation evening will be a great opportunity to celebrate their success and look forward to another year of successful partnership."

The Programme is supported by a partnership of the European Social Fund, South West Regional Development Agency, the Learning and Skills Council and the Bournemouth, Dorset and Poole Economic Partnership including the local authorities. This partnership has supported the Programme financially and has encouraged companies to take part to boost their productivity.

With the project continuing into another year, companies are being invited to come along to the awards evening to hear how employers have benefited from the scheme and how they can take part in next year’s programme.

Businesses wishing to attend are invited to the Civic Centre for 6.30pm.
