Housing Partners for Poole

To help improve standards and ensure excellent management of housing in Poole, the Council has selected four preferred Housing Associations to work in partnership with them to develop housing in the Borough.

Four preferred housing partners sign the agreement that sets out the high standards to achieve further development and management of affordable housing in Poole

Four preferred partners (from left to right): Jitinder Takhar, Business Development Manager, Western Challenge, Alan Seabright, Director, Raglan Housing Association; Councillor Bill Wreatham, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Housing; Lindsay Todd, Chief Executive, Swaythling Housing Society and Nick Horne, Managing Director, Knightstone Housing Association, were chosen following a rigorous selection process and will meet on Monday 24 November to sign an agreement setting out a standard of delivery for the affordable housing programme in Poole.

Councillor Bill Wretham, Cabinet Porfolio Holder for Housing, said: "We are fortunate to have such a prime opportunity ahead of us with the regeneration of Poole. It is important that we work in partnership with providers of affordable housing, to help improve standards in the way affordable housing is developed and managed and to ensure we maximise the number of new homes provided and drive up standards of service to those who live in them."

Housing Associations from across the region were invited to apply and the four preferred partners were chosen for their strong track record in management and the provision of affordable housing.

The protocol sets out standards to be achieved in the development and management of affordable housing in Poole. The purpose of selecting the preferred partners with the strongest development and management capabilities is to drive up standards in terms of development and management as well as to ensure those housing associations have a healthy development programme.

Simon Hendey, Head of Housing and Community, said: "The timing of this protocol is critical in ensuring the community will gain the maximum benefit from the town centre regeneration and the housing it delivers. We will be able to work much more closely with these partners to improve standards of development and management in Poole which will benefit the people who will live in new homes and the communities where they will be located. It will highlight not just to ourselves but to other providers of affordable housing just how successful this process can be when resources are used more effectively."
