5 Apr 02Statement On Behalf Of The Borough Of Poole - The Queen Mother
The Mayor of Poole, Councillor Ron Parker, said: "On behalf of the people of Poole, I would like to express our great sadness at the loss of The Queen Mother. She was a remarkable lady and her death will be a significant loss to all those who have respected and admired her through the years. Our deepest sympathies are with the Royal Family, particularly after what has already been a difficult few months and in this Jubilee year."
A book of condolences, which will be started by the Mayor of Poole at 12.00noon today (Tuesday 2 April 2002), will be situated in the Civic Centre Reception.
The Union Flag flying at the Civic Centre has been lowered and will remain at half mast as Poole's mark of respect until the time of the funeral.
