2 Feb 07Shoppers Urged To Sign Fair Deal Petition
Poole’s Council leaders will be urging shoppers to sign up for a “Fair Deal for Poole” on Saturday 3 February.
Leader of the Council, Cllr Brian Leverett, Deputy Leader of the Council and Conservative Group Leader Cllr Ann Stribley and Cllr Mike Brooke, Leader of the Council’s Liberal Democrat Group, will be at the Dolphin Shopping Centre, between 10am and 4pm.
They will be inviting residents to join Borough of Poole’s campaign and sign the “Fair Deal” petition, which demands an end to unfair funding from the Government.
Poole is the fourth worst-funded Unitary Authority in the country and Councillors are calling on residents to play an active role and support the cross-party campaign.
Residents are being urged to sign the petition, which Council leaders aim to deliver directly to 10 Downing Street. A copy of the “Fair Deal” petition - and a letter addressed to the Prime Minister – has been delivered to 65,000 homes and businesses across the Borough, with the Council’s own publication Poole News.
“Fair Deal” collection points have also been set up at libraries, leisure centres and other civic buildings in Poole for residents to return their petitions and letters in support of the campaign.
Poole Councillors will be at the Dolphin Shopping Centre on February 3, 10, 17 and 24 to gather public support for “Fair Deal” and to answer people’s questions about the campaign.
