26 Mar 02Free Entry To Museums In Poole
Experience the unexpected at the Waterfront Museum in Poole this Easter, where more people than ever will be able to enjoy a series of exhibitions with the introduction of free entry from Friday 29th March.
In line with Government Policy in relation to National Museums, Poole’s Waterfront Museum will extend the free opening enjoyed currently by local residents to everyone.
Cllr Brian Clements, Executive Spokesperson for Learning, said: "Poole’s Museum Service has a huge range of modern exhibitions which remind us of our history and also help us to think about the future. Lively events and exhibitions mean that there is always something new to see. So whether it is the Romans or the fishing trade and links with Newfoundland, free entry to these wonderful resources will help everyone explore and understand more of our town’s rich heritage."
One current exhibition, ‘Poole in Focus’, features pictures from Poole showing how people lived and worked in the town during the last 50-60 years. In addition, anyone wanting to find out more about specific aspects of Poole’s history can visit the Local History Centre, open 10am - 3pm every Tuesday to Saturday at the Waterfront Museum where staff and volunteers are on hand to help visitors with their enquiries.
Free entry will also include Scaplen’s Court Museum, during the month of August.
