Following the 2005 General Election, Robert Syms has been elected as Member of Parliament for the Poole Constituency with 17,571 votes. Turnout in the election was 63.3 % compared to 60.86% in 2001.
In the Mid-Dorset and North Poole Constituency, Annette Brooke has been elected as Member of Parliament with 22,000 votes. Turnout was 68.57% compared to 65.74% in 2001.
