A new sports and country park development at Canford Magna is set to open in September 2002.

The new arena on Magna Road will provide high quality sports facilities, events arenas, jogging tracks, walk ways and bridleways.

The development is the result of a partnership between the Borough of Poole, Bournemouth Borough Council, Canford Park Sports Ltd, Woodlands Manor Estates Ltd and Canford Environmental.

Sports facilities include five full-size football pitches, two junior -sized football pitches, two mini soccer pitches and a cricket pitch.

Cllr Graham Curtis, Chairman of the Licensing Panel, said: "This fantastic new facility will provide a whole range of activities from outdoor concerts to shows and exhibitions. Whilst providing an ideal and unique venue, any larger scale music events will need to apply for a public entertainment licence which will consider issues such as nuisance and health and safety. This will ensure that local residents, the Police and Fire Brigade are fully consulted before any license is granted."

Currently no applications for large scale music events have been received. A detailed model of the finished Canford Park Arena is on show at Canford Park Garden Centre on Magna Road opposite the arena site.
