4 Mar 02Cycling Challenge For Mayor's Charity
Staff from the Borough of Poole will be cycling across the Channel to France to raise money for the Mayor of Poole Charity Appeal which supports the Julia Perks Foundation and the Poole Hospital Asthma Fund.
The Civic party along with a team of Bicycle User Group members will pedal across to Cherbourg on exercise bikes aboard the Barfleur ferry. The Deputy Mayor of Cherbourg and his Bicycle team will then ride back competing against the Poole team who will be battling to get the highest number of miles cycled.
The project will be launched by Mayor of Poole, Cllr Ron Parker on Tuesday 12 March outside the Barfleur where he will be trying out a ‘Black Lightening’ Cannondale bike dressed in special Black Lightening lycra kit for the event.
Mayor of Poole, Cllr Ron Parker, said: " This is a really exciting event which will bring a welcome boost to my charity appeal. It is also a great opportunity for the people from our twin town of Cherbourg to visit Poole and help our charities which will make a big difference to the Julia Perks Foundation and the Poole Hospital Asthma Fund."
