New Funding for Childcare in Poole

Children in Poole will benefit from £17,993 which has been awarded to set up two Out of School Clubs in Poole for children aged 3 to 12.

The New Opportunities funding, awarded to Poole’s Early Years Childcare Partnership will assist in creating 50 new places in the two clubs. Three Bears in Oakdale will be opening ‘wrap around’ childcare places for 26 children which offers additional care after education. The care will be available for one hour after the child’s education in the morning and will cover the lunch hour period.

In addition, Flippers nursery for Borough of Poole employees will be creating places in a holiday club for children aged 5-12 years in premises close to the nursery.

Nicky Kay, Out of School Development Officer, Borough of Poole, said: " This award is good news for children and parents in Poole. The wrap around childcare at Three Bears will enable parents to work for 16 hours a week which may entitle them to working families tax credit. Flippers holiday club will give parents the opportunity to provide care for their children once they are too old for the nursery."

Cllr Sandra Moore, Chairman of the Education Policy Advisory Group said: "This is the third award the Borough has received to set up new Out of School places which provide a valuable service to working parents. We are delighted that we can now offer more places to children and that more working parents can benefit from the high quality childcare that they offer."
