Alderney Middle School Remains Closed due to Minor Storm Damage

Due to an assessment of minor storm damage at Alderney Middle School, Evering Avenue, Poole, the school will remain closed tomorrow (Wednesday 6 February).\n

Following Monday evening's stormy weather a water leak has caused some damage to the roof and school's reception area. Whilst work to repair the roof is under way, all heating and electricity has been turned off as a safety precaution.

Headteacher David Cook, said: "A good section of the roof has been repaired today but there is more that needs to be done. Because of the nature of the work we have had to turn off the school's electricity but by allowing the contractors to continue work tomorrow, we hope to minimise disruption for the pupils, parents and staff at the school. Once the work has been completed power will be restored and it will be business as usual. We apologise for any inconvenience in the meantime."

Parents will be advised once work has been completed and the school reopens. As power to the school has been disconnected, telephone lines will not be working. Anyone needing further information can contact the Borough of Poole's Pupil & Parent Support Service on tel: 01202 262261.
