31 Jan 02Help Stamp Out Crime in Poole
Residents in Poole will be meeting with Police and the Local Authority at a crime conference on Saturday 2 February to look at ways of working together to tackle the problems caused by crime and disorder.
Amanda Bombardiere, Community Safety Officer for Poole said, "The crime conference will enable us to consult residents as to how they would like to work in partnership with the Local Authority and the Police to tackle the problems caused by crime. It is important that we understand how we can increase the support given to victims of crime and that we listen to the concerns that residents have."
Cllr Graham Curtis, Chairman of Poole’s Community Safety Forum said: "Major community safety initiatives such as CCTV will be discussed along with findings of a recent crime audit. We also want to consult with residents on their views of crime on an on-going basis, both at the conference and over the next three years so we can produce a meaningful strategy for Poole."
Those attending the conference will be able to take part in a quiz looking at their perceptions of crime. Winners will receive prizes donated by the Seafarer Restaurant, Poole Arts Centre, Compton Acres, Splashdown, Bowlplex and Sainsburys.
The conference will be held on Saturday 2 February 2002, at Hamworthy Recreation Club. For more information contact Amanda Bombardiere, Community Safety Officer on (01202) 633045.
