Mayor Presents Poole Achievement Awards 2001

The Mayor of Poole, Councillor Ron Parker, announced the winners of the Poole Achievement Awards 2001 at the Civic Reception and Awards Ceremony on Friday 11 January at Poole Arts Centre.

There are six recipients of this year’s Poole Achievement Awards: Bob McCredie, Margaret Cox, Jean Holland, Mark James, Ray Ruffell and Bob Harris.

The Awards are part of the continuing commitment by Poole Council to honour Poole people of all ages and from all walks of life for their outstanding achievements.

Nominations are submitted for an individual, organisation, group or business thought to deserve an award in recognition of their effort, service, dedication or achievement in making Poole a better place in which to live or work.

The Mayor of Poole, Councillor Ron Parker, said: "This year’s recipients have shown exceptional dedication and commitment to their local community in the hard work that they have put in throughout the years. I am extremely honoured and delighted to give them the recognition which they all clearly deserve and I would like to pass on my congratulations and admiration to them all."

To start the Civic Reception evening off there was entertainment from the Poole Academy of Dance, who performed a taster from ‘Crazy for Musicals 2’ which includes songs from ‘Whistle down the Wind’. There was also dancing to music from ‘Contrast’ and a cabaret act from ‘After Eight’.
