Nominations for Poole's Unsung Heroes

Do you know one of Poole's unsung heroes…? \n

…If so, then Poole Safe Together Partnership, the partnership tackling crime and substance misuse,  want to recognise their work with the annual award - The John Jay Shield!

The John Jay Shield is awarded annually by Poole Safe Together Partnership in recognition of crime prevention and/or community safety initiatives undertaken in the Borough of Poole.

The hunt is on for an individual or a group that has been working actively in the community dealing with issues that have an impact on community safety or crime prevention. We want to recognise and pay tribute to the people whose hard work in the community often goes unnoticed and is over and above the call of duty.

Cllr Ann Stribley, Chairman of Poole Safe Together Partnership, said, "We are delighted to be able to reward and recognise the hard work carried out by Poole's volunteers and their dedication to improving the safety of the community. This is an excellent opportunity to encourage and develop relationships between the partnership and members of the public".

Qualification for the award should encompass one or more of the following:

  • Making the community a safer place to live, work or visit \n
  • Improving the lives of those who are at risk of offending or re-offending \n
  • Helping and supporting those who have been victims of crime \n
  • Assisting in the prevention and/or detection of crime

Criteria:

  • The work must relate to activity in 2004/2005 \n
  • The work must relate to Poole and be of benefit to Poole residents/workers \n
  • The work must be voluntary and unpaid
