27 Jan 04Councillors get kitted up
The Borough of Poole is desperately seeking a special person to take the position of School Crossing Patrol Officer at Fernside Road near the junction with Pound Lane.
Normal recruitment channels have not provided a suitable candidate so Councillor Peter Adams and Councillor David Gillard have decided to help in the search and become School Crossing Patrol Officers for the afternoon.
Councillor Adams and Councillor Gillard will both be trained before hitting the streets dressed in full uniform and will be helping the children from Longfleet School to cross the road safely on Thursday afternoon.
Councillor Ron Parker, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Local Economy, said: "I commend my colleagues for publicising our urgent need for a Crossing Patrol Officer for the safe passage of children across this dangerous junction, especially as this is a particularly popular and busy area. We are sure that there is a local resident out there who would be perfect for this position."
The person would be required to work 7 hours a week in term time only, at an hourly rate of £5.45 plus holiday pay. Anybody interested in the position should contact Sally Funnell or Colin Williams at the Council on 01202 262 066.
