14 Jul 06Poole Fairtrade Fashion Show
On the 20th July, as part of Summer Breeze on the Quay
, Faithworks Poole
in conjunction with the Poole Fairtrade Town Steering Group will be holding its first ever Fairtrade Fashion Show on Poole Quay.
The aim of the show is to demonstrate that Fairtrade
is not just about tea and coffee and to highlight the increase in availability of Fairtrade clothing. The event comes as Poole steps up its campaign to achieve Fairtrade status for the town.
The show will include designs from Colonel Kilgore
, a Poole based company which specialises in organic, fairtrade surf t-shirts, and People Tree
, a well established fairtrade mail order company. Third World Crafts in Wimborne will also be providing clothing from a variety of fairtrade producers. Tam and Rob, a new fairtrade mail order company, will show their first collection designed by local girls Lucy Tammam and Lucy Robinson.
The event is also supported by Jenkins Marine
and Poole churches including Canford Heath URC
and Poole Methodist
. All of the models are local volunteers.
Councillor Mrs Judy Butt said: "I am delighted that this all inclusive event is taking place in the heart of Poole. Having and promoting a greater supply of Fairtrade goods in the town will add to the quality and choice of products available to local people and visitors alike.".
