A Snapshot of views on Council Services - Poole Residents Survey 2003

This week 3,000 Poole residents will be invited to take part in a survey on services provided by the Borough of Poole. The self-completion survey includes questions about education, social services, public transport and leisure facilities as well as asking for residents' views about life in Poole.

Every Council in the country is asking its residents to complete a similar customer satisfaction survey, with questions that have been co-ordinated by the Government to allow performance to be compared.

The survey was first carried out in Autumn 2000 and it is repeated every three years to draw a picture of performance over time.

Councillor Neil Sorton, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Resources, said: "This is another opportunity for us to listen to local views that will help us plan our services to meet the needs of our residents. This survey gives the Council an indication of how well it is perceived to be doing its job in the eyes of Poole residents as well as benchmarking Poole's performance against other local authorities. We want to make sure that we provide the type of services that Poole residents really want."

The survey results will be available in January and national analysis of all the local authority results will be announced later next year and published on boroughofpoole.com/opinions.

Notes

The survey is targeted at a random sample of 3,000 residents and the Government has set a target of achieving at least 1,100 returns.

As an incentive, all residents who complete and return their surveys will be entered into a prize draw to win £100.

All personal information will be treated as confidential.
