Skull and Crossbones Over Council Offices

When the Skull and Cross Bones flag is hoisted above Poole's Council offices at the Civic Centre tomorrow (Tuesday 30th October) it will not be a signal of local dissent or the outcome of a struggle!

The flag will fly for a special Civic Reception in honour of Poole Pirates' Tony Rickardsson who recently claimed his fourth World Championship Speedway title, giving Poole Pirates the world class winning rider for the second year running.

Following the reception The Mayor of Poole, Councillor Ron Parker, and Tony Rickardsson will arrive at Poole Quay at 17.30 by boat for a special fireworks celebration at 18.00. Following the fireworks will be an appropriately themed Swedish evening at the popular Custom House where the rest of the Poole Pirates team will join in the 'Abba-esque' fun with their supporters.

Editors notes:

Following on from our Press Release on 24 October this is a reminder! and an opportunity to stress that organisers in Poole have planned this celebration with a local flavour to reflect it's pride in having world class status in this sport, rather than an open top bus tour which such a world class sporting event might usually attract!
