Poole Pirates fans will be celebrating World Champion Tony Rickardsson’s fourth world title and his first for Poole Pirates on Tuesday 30 October with a fireworks extravaganza on Poole Quay. Following an official reception where the Mayor of Poole Cllr Ron Parker will be congratulating Tony and the team, the Pirates, accompanied by the Mayor will race down to the Quay and arrive in the Harbour Masters boat ready to meet fans and members of the public from 5.30pm at Fish Shambles in time for the explosive display at 6.00pm.

The Custom House will be leading the way with a traditional smorgasbord of Swedish delights and melodies from Abba! in honour of the Swedish Champion. Other pubs and shops along the Quay will be encouraged to join in with the Swedish or Pirate theme to make the night an all round success.

Councillor Ron Parker, Mayor of Poole, said: "We have lots of qualities in Poole which are world class and this event will ensure we celebrate in style and show how proud we are of having the best in the world. The Pirates have a long history in Poole and a huge local following regularly attracting as many fans as second or third division football clubs. Tony is to Speedway what David Beckham is to football and it is fantastic that we have this calibre of sporting personality in Poole."
