17 Oct 01Poole Tyre Dealers have cure for baldness
Poole's tyre Dealers are top of the class according to a product safety investigation by the Borough of Poole Consumer Protection Services.
Of the 99 tyres examined, second hand part worn tyres and new budget brands, were all within safety regulations.
Peter Pawlowski, Head of Consumer Protection, said: "It is excellent news that tyre dealers in Poole have maintained a consistent high standard of safety. People should also remember to consider the right size, speed, load and pressure ratings of their particular vehicle whenever they are buying tyres."
The Current trade recommendations advise that tyres should be replaced before reaching the minimum legal tread depth of 1.6 mm. At 3 mm tread depth braking distances are significantly increased and there is a high risk of aquaplaning.
Second hand tyres also should be marked ' Part Worn', be free from any external or internal defects and have a minimum tread depth of 2mm.
