Poole Housing Partnership fits 100 bathrooms

Poole Housing Partnership (PHP) and partnering contractor MITIE have completed their 100^th bathroom replacement at Sterte Court in Poole.

The bathroom replacements are part of Poole Housing Partnership’s massive reinvestment programme, which will bring all of Poole’s council homes up to the Decent Homes Standard by 2010.

Tenant Carol Smith, who received the 100^th bathroom refit, said: “The transformation is unbelievable.  In my old bathroom there were pipes everywhere and it looked like something out of the ark!  Now I have a lovely, bright and modern bathroom.  I can’t believe the change.

“The MITIE team were kind, courteous and helpful, especially the younger ones.  You couldn’t want for a better team.  They were here everyday working on my bathroom; I had no problems and was not inconvenienced in any way.  They would tidy-up after themselves every night before they left, and at no point was I left without the use of my bath or toilet.  Nothing was too much trouble for them.”

To mark the occasion contract administrator for Poole Housing Partnership, Garry Coles and MITIE’s Tenant Liaison Officer, Chris O’Donovan, officially handed-over the finished bathroom to Mrs Smith and presented her with a celebratory bouquet of flowers.

Mark Jones, Head of Asset Management, Poole Housing Partnership said: “We are delighted that our residents are now seeing the benefit of the additional funding in real terms.  Having a new kitchen or bathroom installed can be very disruptive.  Therefore our team work in partnership with suppliers and contractors to keep disruption to an absolute minimum, be flexible and fit a modern, quality installation that residents are proud of. “

With the bathroom works at Sterte Court almost complete, the MITIE team have moved their site office to a new location, behind the Thistle Hotel on Poole Quay, to begin work in the Old Town.  Residents with any queries can call into the new site office Monday to Friday between 8am and 5pm.
