Poole Refuse Services Return To Normal

Refuse services in Poole should return to normal this week following delays to the service brought about by vehicle breakdowns.

Hire vehicles have been brought in to temporarily replace broken down vehicles and following a meeting with Union representatives on 30 August, the threat of a workforce ‘work to rule’ has also been lifted.

Peter Pawlowski, Head of Consumer Protection, said: "The meeting with union officials was extremely productive and addressed the concerns raised by staff. A tremendous amount of work has been done to ensure these services are efficient, effective and offer good working conditions to the staff."

"Their efforts in keeping the show on the road despite the exceptional problems which have occurred with vehicles have been tremendous. With new vehicles due in October these problems will be at an end and the public will see further improvements to what is already a good service."

Cllr Bob Williams, Executive Spokesperson for Environment and Prosperity, said: "I would like to thank residents for their patience during the recent problems. With the hire vehicles we have brought in, we now have a complete fleet so the service should return to normal again this week."
