2 Aug 01Poole's Parking Wardens Put to the Test
The Borough of Poole’s team of nine parking wardens are celebrating their success on becoming the first local authority wardens in Dorset to have all attained National Vocational Qualification Level 2 in Parking.
To achieve the NVQ, wardens had to complete a number of mandatory and optional units covering a range of topics from ‘Avoiding and Dealing with Confrontation’ to ‘Carrying Out Lift Rescue Operations’.
All training was carried out ‘on the job’ and NVQ assessors regularly visited to observe the wardens at work. Candidates were required to demonstrate how they would deal with difficult situations such as angry motorists and vehicle breakdowns as they arose during the working day.
Presenting the wardens with their certificates the Mayor of Poole Cllr Ron Parker said: "You should all be very proud to be the most qualified parking wardens in the country."
Jim Bright, Head of Transportation Services at the Borough of Poole, said: "A high level of commitment and dedication was required of all our parking wardens to achieve these qualifications. They should all be proud of their efforts, as it represents yet another achievement for Poole’s award winning car parks".
