Ad Astra First School in Poole has been awarded £77,000 of additional Government funding for new buildings, as part of the Government’s "30 per class" initiative. The funding will be used to expand the school’s accommodation as its pupil intake grows. The school will benefit through a new library, a new music / drama suite and additional accommodation for special educational needs. Val Arbon, Headteacher of Ad Astra School said, "This is great news for Ad Astra School. It will enable the school to offer even better facilities as we grow from a three form entry school to a four form entry school. The environment for learning is so important for young children and we can now provide excellent additional accommodation." Cllr Bob Williams, Deputy Leader of the Council, said: "We are delighted to have been successful in our bid for additional funding for Ad Astra School. The ethos and environment at Ad Astra is excellent and this new funding will enable the school to provide more rooms and space for the pupils."
