13 Jul 01Quay Visitors Toilets Reopen
From today, visitors to Poole Quay can spend a penny in the public toilets at the Quay Visitors Car Park, Old Orchard.
Following the demolition of the toilets on Poole Quay, the toilets at the Quay Visitors Car Park are being reopened by a partnership between the Borough of Poole and Poole Pottery. The Pottery are financing the refurbishment costs whilst the Borough of Poole will meet the ongoing operating costs.
The toilets will remain open on a temporary basis until new toilets are opened in two years time as part of the Poole Pottery redevelopment.
Cllr Bob Williams, Executive Spokesperson for Environment and Prosperity, said: "It is good to see local companies working with the Borough of Poole to maintain community facilities. The investment by Poole Pottery frees up more public funds to pay for the cleaning and maintenance of the 33 public toilets in the Borough."
Peter Mills, Managing Director of Poole Pottery, said:
"We have worked hard with the council to refurbish these toilets which were in a poor condition and have been closed for some time. It is important that we provide as warm a welcome as possible to visitors to the Quay at this time when so much is happening – this means looking at the bigger picture of the facilities and resources available to them whilst they’re here. We’re not concerned with just our own site but how the Quay works and looks as a whole to make it an attractive destination."Pippa Milne, Team Manager, Tel: 01202 261761
