9 Jul 01First 'On the Beach' Evening a Success
Hundreds of Poole residents and visitors came down to Poole’s award winning beaches on Thursday 5 July to take part in the first ever On the Beach evening.
In spite of typical English weather, hundreds of people turned up to take part in games and enjoy the many attractions on offer, including music and commentary from 2CR-FM, stilt walkers, jugglers, street entertainers, clog dancers and an eclectic mix of live music, ranging from samba to hot latin. Crowds of spectators were then treated to a spectacular fireworks finale to end the fun-filled evening.
Anne Simpson, Special Events Officer, said: "It was a shame that it was such a wet evening, but despite the weather both residents and visitors who came to On the Beach seemed to be really enjoying themselves. Everyone agreed that the night had been a success and many said they looked forward to coming to more On the Beach evenings, hopefully next time we might see some of that Summer sun we were hoping for."
The next On the Beach evening is being held on Thursday 12 July. A programme of attractions for the evening is attached.
