'On the Beach' starts this Thursday

Poole residents and visitors will be enjoying sun and fun this Thursday as On the Beach, the biggest beach party in the country, takes to the sand.

On the Beach evenings, sponsored by Sands Brasserie, Sandbanks, is a new event being held every Thursday throughout July and August on Poole’s award winning beaches. The fun packed programme has been designed to appeal to all ages, with entertainment including live music from samba, steel and jazz bands to street entertainment and theatre.

In addition, people will be able to watch and take part in a range of beach and water based sports including volleyball, badminton or short tennis, children’s trampolining, sand sculpting, wind surfing and sailing. Beach barbecues will be dishing up continental and Caribbean style cuisine to party-goers and the evening will end with a spectacular fireworks finale.

Anne Simpson, Special Events Officer, said: "We’ re sure On the Beach will be a fantastic success for both residents and visitors. The event has something for everyone to enjoy, so for people who want to make the most of the Summer sun, come on down to Poole and join in the fun. It’s sure be the coolest beach party in the country and what’s more, it’s free!"

On the Beach starts from 6.30pm on the beaches of Sandbanks, Shore Road and Branksome Chine.
