26 Jun 01Lottery boost for out of school clubs
Parents and children in Poole are to benefit from lottery cash funding for out of school hours childcare. The New Opportunities Fund, which distributes National Lottery money to health, education and environment projects, has awarded the Borough of Poole £53,910 for three new out of school hours clubs. The funding will create 24 before-school places, 40 after-school places and 48 holiday places. The clubs will serve 25 local schools, including special schools. Cllr Annette Brooke, Lead Member for Learning, said: "These new funds will give many more parents in Poole the opportunity to take up employment, knowing that their children will be looked after in a safe and happy environment. It is very appropriate to hear this good news during Kids Club Week - a week which celebrates the role of such clubs in the community." Monty’s Club, to be located at Montacute school, will offer specialist places for children during the school holidays. The club will cater for children with profound and multiple learning difficulties . Cuddles Day Nursery in Canford Heath is opening the Hump a Lump Club which will offer 24 places in a breakfast, after-school and holiday club for children aged 5 - 8 years. Rainbow Day Nursery in Poole will offer 16 places in an after-school club and holiday club. The clubs will open this Autumn.
