Poole Just Keeps on Blooming

Poole has been blossoming once again, with bright and colourful displays provided by local businesses and residents alike adorning the town. Green-fingered residents, schools, shops, pubs, hotels and businesses will be attending a special presentation on Monday 4th October 2004 at 6pm at Upton House when winners will receive awards presented by the Mayor of Poole, Councillor Les Burden, for their hard work.

Councillor Don Collier, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for the Environment, Borough of Poole, said: "There is nothing better for Poole than having so many enthusiastic and committed members of the local community who do so much to brighten up the image of Poole. It all helps to make Poole a clean, green and safer environment. Residents of Poole have really excelled themselves and it's encouraging to see so many people taking an interest in their garden and promoting Pride in Poole."

This year's ceremony will also see a special Schools' Environmental Project award, sponsored by Barclays Horticultural Society, presented to Longfleet C of E Combined School, Poole, for their hard work in making their school grounds so environmentally creative and attractive. The project helps to get children interested and involved in gardening and wildlife.

In addition the Poole in Bloom Committee is always on the look out for extra volunteers and further information is available by contacting John Lockwood, Horticulture Officer, Leisure Services, Borough of Poole on 01202 261320.
