Disruption Possible with Improvements Works to Nuffield

29 June 2004

The Borough of Poole is continuing to invest in the redevelopment of the Nuffield Household Waste Recycling Centre to make it one of the leading facilities in the country.

Modifications include:

  • Provision of additional recycling areas
  • Improved waste segregation and waste recovery areas
  • New facilities for waste separation, contributing to awareness raising and education amongst users
  • Improved signage and overall design of the site to reduce waiting times and make use of previously redundant space

These developments herald the start of an ongoing programme of works to achieve sustainable waste management in Poole, as outlined in the Borough of Poole’s adopted Waste Strategy.

As part of this redevelopment, users may face disruption from Monday 5 July until Monday 26 July whilst the improvement work is undertaken, and delays may occur.

Councillor Don Collier, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for the Environment including Recycling, said: "Recycling is vital if we are to reach our strict Government targets. The end result of these improvements will benefit all users of Nuffield so we ask residents to bear with us while the work is carried out."

Steve Middlebrook, Principal Officer for Waste Operations, Consumer Protection Services, Borough of Poole, said: ”The improvement works are progressing well. We have now reached a crucial point with this development which unfortunately may cause unavoidable disruptions to users of the centre. We apologise now for any inconvenience caused whilst this essential work is undertaken.”

The Nuffield Household Waste Recycling Centre is open 7 days a week from 8.30am to 4.30pm with last entry at 4.15pm.
