2 May 03Poole's May Day Bank Holiday Craft Fair Weekend
The Borough of Poole’s Arts Development Unit has joined up with the Study Gallery to produce a unique modern crafts fair for the bank holiday.
The free weekend event features selected, high quality crafts designed and made by some of the region’s leading craftspeople, and includes a variety of activities for creative minded families including reasonably priced and family workshops.
There will be lively demonstrations by some of the artists including a traditional Japanese method of firing ‘Raku’ pottery. This will take place outside, along with a circus skills performer and a local African musician Noah Messomo, who will enable young people to join in, have fun and learn new skills for free.
Steve Maclaurin, Arts in the Community Officer, said: "From furniture and metalwork to jewellery and textiles, the emphasis is on variety and quality at a range of prices. Coupled with tasty refreshments, ices and music the event will create a friendly, stimulating atmosphere. It is rare to find so much quality craft, including the chance to talk to the artists, all in on e building!"
