21 Jan 05Essential Maintenance Work in Parkstone
As part of the Borough of Poole's highway maintenance programme, road works will begin at Kingsbridge Road and Osborne Road, Parkstone from Monday 24 January. The works are expected to take seven weeks to complete.
The first six weeks of this scheme will be to reconstruct the kerbs and footways of Kingsbridge Road between Sandecotes Road junction and Balmoral Road junction. Osborne Road will be unaffected during this phase of the works, although it will be necessary to close Kingsbridge Road to through traffic. Therefore, the following diversions will be set up:
- Westbound diversion via Sandecotes Road, Durrant Road and Alton Road. \n
- Eastbound diversion via Sandringham Road and Sandecotes Road. \n
Following these works, Kingsbridge Road and Osborne Road between Sandecotes Road junction and the rail-bridge near Alton Road junction will be resurfaced. This phase will take one week to complete and will require the closure of both Kingsbridge Road and Osborne Road as far as Sandringham Road junction. The section of Osborne Road between the rail-bridge and Sandringham Road junction will remain open for diversionary traffic.
Cllr Ron Parker, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Local Economy, Borough of Poole, said: "It's unfortunate that motorists will face inevitable delays to their journey times arising from this road closure. However these works are essential to maintain the highway in a safe condition and diversions are in place to keep disturbance to a minimum."
Pedestrians will still have access to the affected roads and arrangements have been made for school crossing patrol locations.
