Services Temporarily Reduced at Poole Central Library

Services at Poole’s Central Library will be temporarily reduced until Friday 22 November due to work by specialist contractors.

From 3.30pm today, members of the public will have a restricted service to borrow books, cds or dvds whilst contractors work to remove faulty ceiling tiles.

During the work, the library’s welcome desk, will remain open, customers will be able to return books and audio visual items and a limited enquiries service will be available. Facilities on the second floor such as the Childrens’ lending library, Chill Zone, IT suite and coffee shop will be unaffected. Staff will be available to assist customers where necessary. The library lift will also be out of action during this time.

Claire Chidley, Head of Cultural Services, said: "I apologise to anyone using the library for any inconvenience caused over the next couple of days. Whilst the contractors work on the building people will still be able to return books and make some enquiries, but we hope that we will be able to get back to our full service as soon as possible."

Ceiling tiles were not included as part of the major refurbishment of the Central Library in Autumn 2001.
