5 Nov 02Poole News is Doing the Business

The Autumn edition of Poole News published by the Borough of Poole has been delivered to homes in Poole.
If you’ve ever wondered how the Council spends its money or how much of its budget is made up from Council Tax, then the intro pages in this edition explain the process involved. A step-by-step guide includes the timetable which is followed prior to setting the Council Tax for the following year and shows how Government priorities and residents’ views are considered together with the level of income Poole receives from Government.
Cllr Brian Clements, Leader of the Council said: "We are going to face some tough decisions again this year and it’s important that local people get involved. The information in Poole News provides the background but it’s important to come along to your local Area Committee to really take part in the process."
For the first time, this edition includes a centre page pullout of Adult Learning courses for the forthcoming Spring Term. Claire Chidley, Head of Culture and Community Learning said: "We’ve had some radical changes this year and we felt the most effective way of getting the message about our exciting new Adult Learning Programme across to people was to link up with Poole News. You can find out all about our wide range of professional, vocational and essential skills courses which are available at a centre near you or give us a call on freephone 0800 389 8332."
Other news in this edition includes:
