1 Nov 02Yellow Pages - Move Over Chicks...
Residents across Poole will soon be able to recycle their old Yellow Pages. The campaign starts when the new edition of the Yellow Pages directory is delivered across the area from November 5.
Louise Colclough, Environmental Sustainability Officer, Borough of Poole, said: "It’s never been easier to recycle your old Yellow Pages, simply place them in your kerbside box or take them to one of the three dedicated recycling banks."
The campaign is a joint project between the Borough of Poole and the Directory Recycling Scheme, which is sponsored by Yellow Pages. This year Poole has received a grant from the Directory Recycling Scheme in order to fund the recycling points. The aim is to collect and recycle thousands of old Yellow Pages, with "fluffy chicks" on the front cover, which will then go on to form animal bedding.
The Yellow Pages will be collected from the Council’s kerbside boxes and there will also be special Yellow Pages recycling banks at:
Sainsbury's Car Park, Pitwines
Homebase Car Park, Branksome
Somerfields Car Park, Canford Heath
Adam Billiald, Co-ordinator of the Directory Recycling Scheme, said: "Supporting local authorities to recycle directories is a major environmental strategy for Yellow Pages. I encourage everyone to do their bit for the environment and recycle their directory via the council’s kerbside scheme."
Yellow Pages
Yellow Pages are published by Yell, an international directories business operating in the classified advertising market through printed and online media. Yell’s products in the UK also include the Business Pages directory, Yell.com, Talking Pages and Yell Data and in the US, Yellow Book.
Directory Recycling Scheme
The Directory Recycling Scheme, sponsored by Yellow Pages, works with local authorities to encourage an increase in the number of Yellow Pages directories that UK households recycle. It runs a freephone helpline (0800 671 444) for the public to call to find out the nearest recycling point for their old Yellow Pages. Internet users can find this information via www.yellgroup.com
