Poole pupils will be busy planning their future following the publication of AS and A level results across the country.

These results are from the first group of students to take AS and A2 (the second year of the full A level).

Maureen Champness, Senior Adviser in the Borough, said: "These results are the culmination of hard work throughout the school system. There are success stories in every school reflecting the hard work of students, staff and parents. Although there are national concerns about the demands that the changes have made of students and teachers, most Poole students have achieved the grades necessary for the next step in their careers whether it is university, college, further training or employment."

Cllr Mrs Sandra Moore, Chairman of the Learning Policy Advisory Group, said: "Congratulations to all the students in Poole receiving their results today. Students and staff across the Borough work extremely hard with the support of parents and the LEA to achieve high results. Previous A level results have been outstanding and I hope that all those involved feel their efforts are rewarded in these results. Well done to everyone."
